That was quite the interview and thoroughly candid. I appreciate the timeline advice since I am a 4th year smack in the middle of residency application. At least getting a license with the 3rd board and 1 year training appears like the least amount of training one should do.

In reply to Ojas Mehta. Hi Ojas, Same case here. I completed medical degree 3 years ago. With 1 year medical training, I went straight to pursue PhD degree in the UK. Interested in both medicine and business, now I am sort of struggled to continue with medical practice or apply for McKinsey & BCG. What is the sweet spot for me to make a transition. May I have a chat with you at some point, I would like to hear your views and how is your work going now.

Hi Andrew, thank you very much for this post. It was incredibly informative. I am a doctor in Melbourne (2 years out of medical school) and have an interview with BCG in the next couple of weeks. This perspective from Tarun and the questions you have asked him have been absolutely useful for me and my personal goals. I have always wanted to mix business with medicine, but timing, ‘opportunity cost’ and a lack of certainty in the business world has always instilled a bit of fear in me. So thank you immensely.
